It was published in the Official Gazette, Law No. 144/2015 of 8 September, which transposed Directive 2013/11 / EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on the alternative resolution consumer disputes, and established the legal framework for extrajudicial resolution of consumer disputes mechanisms (repeals Decree - Law No. 146/99 of 4 May and No 60/2011 of 6 May) creating one in Portugal Consumer Arbitration Network.

Under that law the companies are obliged to inform their customers of the existence of an alternative dispute resolution center applicable to the sector where they fall, indicating the website of the same, or of any other alternative resolution of disputes competent entity.

That law also established a transitional rule under which suppliers of goods or service providers have a period of six months to comply with this law, ie from the day March 23, 2016 all providers of goods or service providers established in Portugal shall inform consumers about the alternative resolution entities of consumer disputes available or who are bound by adhesion or legal obligation arising from compulsory arbitration, including in the respective Company's website;
